Betty was asking about room ideas and wanted everyone to share little tidbits. Sometimes other people have ideas we dont think off

I love your rooms Mary! You are truly gifted. I haven't seen anything as nice outside of a museum. I wish that AG could offer items like this. Maybe they should hire you.
I don't have any really great room ideas yet as I am still in the sorting and organizing stage. I did find that I like the tables from MyTwinn as they are a bit too big for the dolls so they make my dolls look like real ten year olds might if they were seated at a normal sized table. I also found something fun at Cracker Barrel. If you have ever been, then you have probably seen their checkers on a rug set. I found a smaller version of it that is just the right size for my dolls. It is really cute. I also picked up a kid sized Route 66 lunchbox. It is obviously way too big for the dolls, but it makes a nice background to Molly's accessories.
I am looking forward to hearing other ideas for decorating doll rooms. It would be especially helpful if directions on how to make or where to find things is included.
Thanks for the great thread!

Marymax - Your room scenes are amazing. I love both the kitchen and the fireplace scene.

Mary, your pics have inspired me. Now that spring is here, I plan to start checking out garage sales and all of those little antique shops for doll sized treasures.
I can't wait to start putting together my own doll room.
Thank You!!!

Are the walls of the room made out of steel or some other type of metal? What is it that magnets stick to? I am sorry to be showing my ignorance here. I know magnets stick to my refrigerator, LOL. What a great idea. Yes, you are inspiring me, too.

I hate to ask silly questions like this, but what are the approximate measurements of your room?
Magnets? Are your walls metal?
They are so amazingly beautiful! Just magical, really. I would love to have a room for my girls, but I do not know if I could ever make the space.Thank you so much for sharing thesewonderful photographs.

I have a whole room for my doll stuff now, and it is starting to seem small. I want to put together doll rooms, too. I guess I'll just have to wait until I move into my big new house this fall!

Kirsten's room 1
Kirsten's room 2
Kirsten's room 3
I just have my little Kirsten's room I made. Not nearly as detailed or elaborate as marymax's but I like 'em. Pretty much all it is is 2 walls that I set up in a corner. They aren't connected so I can disassemble it and store it in my closet very easily.
The walls are actually siding from my house. A summer or 2 ago we added on and so some of the siding had to come off for the addition, so I asked my dad if I could have some and he help me cut it to the right size. I'm not sure how long they are across, longer than the scenes and settings. They're 24 inches tall, which is the same as the scenes and settings are I think. My house was originally grey, so all I had to do painting-wise was paint the thicker upraised part dark brown. The grey parts are actually about 1/3 of an inch lower than the brown parts, if that makes any sense. You can't really tell from the pictures. And then I couldn't think of a way to get a good dirt floor so I just have my lovely now purple carpet
For the pegs in the wall holding Kirsten's accessories I just nailed... well.. nails into the wall, lol nothing too complex. The window is a picture I printed offline, I think I found it on ebay, and then I just painted wood and glued it around/on it to make it look like a window
It's all really really simple, I am not nearly as talented as some other members here! Marymax, your rooms are amazingggg, theyre so detailed and perfectly scaled to size!

Kimberbee,
I love your Kirsten rooms, they are adorable...I have always loved Kirsten's stuff I hope one day to be able to get her collection
My walls are made of a thin fiber board from Lowes...or Home Depot, it is about 1/4 thick...maybe less....the magnets are strong enough to hold a magnet on the other side....the room is about 30" by 23" on the sides....it is multi functional...and if made properly it should fold and slip under a bed...
